Although ADDIE is the go-to design methodology for many organizations, how you gather the business goals, behaviors, stories, and personas can be somewhat flexible.


I am an advocate of Design Thinking for Learning, and where possible, try to incorporate a learner-centered design philosophy.   

 

DEVELOPMENT

The LMS and content authoring ecosystem is evolving rapidly. By continuing to explore what is possible, we can push learning development beyond digitized versions of traditional delivery.
 

I'm continually amazed at the invention and creativity of designers, and look across many fields for inspiration and ideas. 

INNOVATION

I'm often brought into projects that don't fit the typical learning solution mould. 

Whether a business simulation design, how to implement telepresence in the school curriculum or an instruction design guide for beginners, I relish taking on projects that start with 'We're not sure what the problem is...'

Originally from the UK, I have lived and worked extensively in both Europe and the US. 


What does that mean for you?
It means I take a culturally competent approach to your cause, mission, and goals. I am passionate about creating immersive and interesting experiences for learners - we all get a boost from learning - but I am deeply aware that each organization, each team, has its own culture to which I am both a contributor and a guest. 

 

I have been embedded in learning from all sides for many years - as a teacher, curriculum designer, trainer, instructional designer and the ever-present 'I'm not sure, maybe ask Dan if he can think of something that might work'. 

 

Experienced in both business and nonprofit, I would say that my differentiator is designing solutions for complex or unsolved issues, with an empathy for the learner that you only get someone who really doesn't like sitting through training themselves...
